Michael Schachner is a New York-based journalist specializing in wine, food and travel. From 1997 through 2021, Schachner was a senior editor and contributing editor to Wine Enthusiast Magazine, responsible for South America and Spain. A founding member of the magazine’s tasting panel, Schachner reviewed more than 35,000 wines for WE and regularly traveled to Chile, Argentina and Spain to meet with wine producers and keep abreast of the constantly changing global wine map.
